I chose my topic (collecting and donating clothes) because a lot of people do not have many outfits, or their outfits may be in a bad condition. I chose the project I did to help those people and improve life for them, therefore, making a difference. You could say, I was supplying some people with one of the necessities. They still need water, air and water, but its good to start small and gradually work more. I believe that even if you aren’t doing a project like I did, you should still put together old clothes every year or so.
When I thought of the idea for the project, I knew I was going to work hard and help some people, but I didn’t think about it a lot more. I thought I was just simply going to put together a bag of clothes and give it to a donation center. It ended up a lot different then I thought. I actually ended up putting together 3 bags of clothes (3 times the amount I thought!) and donating to 2 different centers to split up the donation. I believe that as you work on a project like this, you feel like you want to do more to help.
My project actually went pretty smoothly, I have to say. Yes, I did work, but I didn’t run into many major barriers that blocked me from finishing the project. I did have some little issues, but I resolved them before they turned to big problems. One was that I didn’t have a lot of time to have my mom take me to a donation center to drop off the clothes, because my schedule is really full. We resolved it by looking for openings, finding one, and dropping clothes off.
My project relates to the theme Make a Difference. I believe this because I am sure that my project made a difference (or will, depending on how long it takes for a donation center to get the clothes to someone in need) because relating to what I said in an earlier paragraph, not everyone has a new outfit to wear every morning like a lot of us do. Do we think about it in the morning that we are lucky to be wearing a different pair of clothes from the previous day? Probably not, or only a couple do. So, this proves that giving clothes to people who need them (what I did in my project) relates to the topic Make a Difference.
